Details and Compatibility

Specifications At a Glance:

  • Uses Bakeneko65 PCB edge cuts. See compatibility notes below.

  • Uses JST connectors, not EZ-Mate. Recommended to be used with an AI03 C3 Daughterboard.

  • Fixed Layout (7u, 2u BS, Normal Caps Lock, no ISO support).

  • Use the provided switches for best compatibility.

  • (Bakeneko65 Only) Screws are NECESSARY to hold the PCB/Plate together.

  • Snap Tap is currently in development.

PCB Details

Due to the hall-effect sensing, multi-layout options are more complicated to include for Hall-Effect PCBs. We're planning to add multi-layout options for future releases, either driven from VIA or with a physical toggle switch on the PCB to turn off sensors too close in proximity.

For this release, we picked a very common enthusiast layout and we hope you like it as much as we do!

PCB Art

Prototype PCB art example. PCB is not for sale.

Each production batch will have different partners and collaborations. Expect any PCB art to be limited to the short run. Questions about PCB art can be asked in Discord and we'll get you the most updated information ASAP!

At this current time, we expect the first batch to simply have vendor logos, no PCB silkscreen art.

Included Switches

Geon HE Raptor Switches. These are out-of-stock currently.

We provide switches with the PW65HE because different switch manufacturers produce batches with enough magnetic variance to affect the PCB performance. PCBs are calibrated for the provided switches per batch.

For users choosing to use another switch, we do provide the calibration app and instructions on the next page! We would recommend recalibrating the PCB for the best experience.

Hotswap Screws

Screws holding PCB/Plate together on ESC and Left Ctrl.

Screws are necessary for Bakeneko65 compatibility. Hall-effect switches have only two pins that provide stability on the PCB, compared to five pins on a conventional hot-swap PCB. The screw kit keeps switches in place against the pressure of the O-ring.

Snap Tap

We will have Snap Tap implemented in a future firmware patch. There is currently support for A-D snap tap on an unreleased version of PW65HE BIN File (current release is Ver 0.1.12). Unfortunately, the PCB is currently out for demonstration with Santoryu65 Build Streams, so a clip cannot be made for visualization at this time. We'll post a sample as soon as possible because we're as excited as you are!!

There is a Snap Tap solution for QMK floating around the void we call Reddit. This solution does NOT work with PW65HE. Please do not edit the BIN file to attempt this. Proper support will be developed.

If you'd like updates for this feature, please reach out to Smol.mk for updates! Contact information and discord channels can be found here.

Case Compatibility

Back side of the PW65HE, showing a bakeneko65 edge design.

PW65HE's edge cut and JST placement mirror's the Bakeneko65 PCB. That said, there are too many cases to test all compatibility. Your mileage may vary between different designers and cases depending on how much they respect the Bakeneko65 edge cut and dimensions.

We have tested compatibility with the SAAG65 and the Santoryu. These cases both fit the PCB perfectly. Santoryu will have build tests with PW65HE shortly! Please visit the Discord for exact dates or follow the Interest Check posted on the page.

Once the prototype is returned from build tests and typing tests, we will confirm fitment with a Cannonkeys Bakeneko.
